Next BFI Film Academy course for young people open for applications!

Our friends at the regional BFI Academy are inviting young people to apply for a film making course.

As an independent production company based in the East of England, BFI Film Academy delivers courses out of love for our industry and to support talented young people from our region.

We want as many young people as possible to have the opportunity to take part and therefore really appreciate help from people like you who work with young people regularly, so thankyou in advance!

There is still time for our team to either Zoom in or come and meet groups of young people to introduce the course and what we do. We can also extend this to offer wider industry/careers info if that would be of use.I also have a presentation I can share with you, alongside other materials, if that would be easier and more convenient for you. Please don’t hesitate to let me know.

As a reminder, the film academy is open to all young people aged 16-19 years from across Suffolk and Norfolk. The academy costs just £25 but we have generous bursaries and can therefore waive course fees and/or support with transport, food and other costs- we organise all of this admin in advance!

Our Suffolk course is taking place during the Spring half term. Applications close: Midnight 20th January 2023.

We are really pleased to announce we will be making ourselves at home in at University of Suffolk once more. We are going to have sole use of their fantastic facilities in this central Ipswich location.

Dates: Spring half term - 11th to the 17th February 2023. Course hours: 10am to 5pm. Location: University of Suffolk, Waterfront Building, 19 Neptune Quay, Ipswich IP4 1QJ.

I attach flyers, including one formatted for Instagram. Links to more information below, including the Film Academy reel; examples of previous films we have made, interviews with alumni and our short application form.

Who is it for and what does it cost?

Supported by the Department for Education, National Lottery, Screen Scotland and Northern Ireland Screen, it provides a fast-paced, fun and practical film making experience.
